Decapitated Christ: The vanishment and extermination of deities
02/09/13 || Cobal
Unlike most bands out there, Decapitated Christ can play. Come on, admit it: The underground metal scene is full of incompetent unimaginative imitators. These Spaniards do not belong to that category. They play a rather massive form of death metal with some killer riffs and arrangements, and although I’m definitely not the most knowledgeable staffer when it comes to brutality, I was impressed at certain moments in the album.
Sadly and as it happens to me with almost every pure death metal record I check out, “The vanishment and extermination of deities” gets to be boring. What is it with brutal oriented musicians that don’t dare to put more variety in their works? Silence is also music, you know.
The tracks work exactly as insanely strong shots: Two or three will be amazing while having too many will make you wonder where the fuck you are — yep, within the record too, if you know what I mean. I might add a couple of them to one of my playlists, though.
7/10: That’s after getting an extra credit for the Obituary cover.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
